Nikolai Astrup: The work of my hands

Time of event to
Stad Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum

Nikolai Astrup’s artwork has recently been on tour from Bergen to London, Massachusetts and Oslo. Now, several of these pieces are coming to Førde, and this exhibition offers you the opportunity to experience them in-depth.

Astrup was not merely an innovative painter and graphic artist – he also cared deeply about the natural world. He experimented and developed a subsistence garden at Sandalstrand, using his hands to create a small world of his own, which you can now experience at Astruptunet.

Here in Sunnfjord’s own home for art, we are pleased to welcome you to this, our first exhibition of Astrup’s work. The exhibition will feature works from the latter parts of his career, allowing the public to look forward to works such as Mars Morgen (March Morning) and Revebjeller (Foxgloves) in the form of paintings, prints and woodblocks. We are also pleased to present a unique Astrup installation, which was developed for the exhibition "Brikker", previously featured at MUNCH and Kode.
