Deep dive into the life and art of Nikolai Astrup

Join our guides on a tour indoors and outdoors at Astruptunet. Please contact us in advance to book a guided tour.

The garden

In the garden, we explain how the Astrup family used the garden — both in their daily life and in the artworks. In recent years, the outdoor area and garden has been reconstructed with support from the Sparebankstiftelsen DNB. Now we can fully show how Nikolai Astrup created an oasis of biodiversity.

The houses and Astrup's studio

Inside the houses, we tell the story of the home life of the Astrup family. Here you also get to enter the studio and see where he created much of his art. In recent years, several of the buildings have also been restored, and the interiors have been returned even more closely to how they were when Astrup lived there in the early part of the last century.

The gallery

In the gallery, we display both the paintings and some of the printing blocks of Nikolai Astrup. Here we talk about the art of the artist couple Engel and Nikolai Astrup.
