Welcome to one of Norway’s oldest cultural heritage museums! Experience historical everyday life in Sogn through around 40 buildings and exciting exhibitions.


The museum occupies around 28 acres of land at Vestreim, easy accessible from the main road.

  • Adults (18+): 120 NOK
  • Children aged 0-18: Free
  • Seniors/students: 90 NOK
  • Museum Pass*: 200 NOK
  • Season Pass**: 390 NOK
*Museum pass: one visit to each of the 12 museums in Musea i Sogn og Fjordane
** Season pass: Valid for the entire calender year

The museum offers free parking, accessible directly off the main road.

As this is a private parking lot, camping is not permitted.


The main building has a lift connecting all three floors.

The outdoor museum area has slopes and hills, resulting in somewhat reduced accessibility.

Café Heiberg


Our museum café, Kafé Heiberg, offers a simple selection of freshly made traditional pancakes, coffee and other tasty snacks.

Sogn Museum of Cultural History has one of the most striking outdoor cafés in Sogndal, with a great view of the area. The café follows the museum’s opening hours, but does not require a ticket.

Gift shop

The gift shop offers a wonderful collection of books, magazines, gift items and traditional toys, as well as wooden, textile and metal craftsmanship produced on-site. The shop follows museum opening hours, but does not require a ticket.
