Millstone Park (Kvernsteinsparken) consists of a quarry where you can see traces of the extensive masonry industry.

The park is staffed throughout the summer, and offers tours and a café, as well as a number of enjoyable events and experiences for the whole family.

Millstone Park (Kvernsteinsparken) is beautifully situated within short walking distance of Hyllestad. The park also has a number of buildings, including a smithy, kiln, assembly house, reception, a small shop and a café.

Tuesday–Sunday from 11am–4pm
The park and the quarry are available year-round. Please contact nks@misf.no if you need to arrange a visit outside the summer season.

Ticket prices

  • Adult: 100 NOK
  • Children aged 0-6: Free
  • Children aged 7-18: 50 NOK
  • Students/seniors: 75 NOK
  • Family ticket: 200 NOK
  • Groups (10+ people) *: 75 NOK
* Group tours must be arranged in advance. Tours outside opening hours have separate pricing.

Café

We offer a basic café with coffee and svele (pancakes) during the summer season.

Gift shop

During summer season, we have a small gift shop which offers a selection of local artefacts. You will find knitting work, ceramics, soapstone, and of course the material used in the millstones; a type of garnet glimmer-slate.

Parking

The Millstone Park offers free parking.

Accessibility

The area around the parking lot and main buildings are flat terrain, connected by gravel roads. Parts of the stone mason path and all buildings are also accessible for visitors with mobility issues. The quarry has trails which are not suitable for strollers or wheelchair users. The park does not have accessibility restrooms.
