Activitys with wool

Time of event to
Stad Nordfjord Folkemuseum

Here you can learn different handcrafts using wool.

In the old days, life was hard. If you needed new clothes, you had to get these yourself. But it is a long process before you sit down with a new wool sweater.

Here you can try to carve wool from local sheep, and spin it into thread with a handle or spinning wheel.

Kvinner i bunad som spinne ull på rokk, børstar ull med karder, strikkar og broderar.
Women dressed in the national costyme - bunad - demonstrating different handcraft techniques such as spinningneedle and spinning wheel, carding wool, knitting and embroidering. Some of these you can try at the museum.

You can also try a kabylian weaving technique, or maybe make a "hoseband" - a weaved ribbon used at the male bunad? Or maybe you want to try "hakking" - a old crocheting technique?

You will find the activity in the café area.
