The Norwegian Museum of Travel and Tourism in Balestrand gives you the opportunity to learn about the development of tourism and the history of travel in our mountain and fjord country. Welcome!

The museum is located on the north side of the Sognefjord — centrally located by the pier in the beautiful village of Balestrand.

We are open Monday - Sunday 11:00-17:00
To make the most of your visit, we suggest allowing at least one hour.

Ticket prices

  • Adults (18+): 140 NOK
  • Children aged 0-17: Free
  • Seniors/students: 110 NOK
  • Season Pass (free entrance for 1 year): 475 NOK
  • Museum Pass *: 270 NOK
* Museum pass: one visit to each of the 12 museums in Musea i Sogn og Fjordane

Free admission to: School groups - for visits, contact marman@misf.no , assistants to people with reduced mobility, tour guide / driver, press, member of NMF / ICOM and visitors to the museum's exhibition openings.

Café

In the museum café, Vindreken, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and fjord landscape. We offer a variety of cakes and biscuits, as well as products from local bakeries, tea and coffee, lunch sandwiches and paninis. The café is open during the museum's opening hours, and can be visited by anyone, no ticket required.

In the museum shop you will find a good selection of books about travel and culture, as well as other gifts.
