The Norwegian Museum of Travel and Tourism in Balestrand gives you the opportunity to learn about the development of tourism and the history of travel in our mountain and fjord country. Welcome!


The museum is located on the north side of the Sognefjord — centrally located by the pier in the beautiful village of Balestrand.

  • Adults (18+): 110 NOK
  • Children aged 0-17: Free
  • Seniors/students: 80 NOK
  • Season Pass (free entrance for 1 year): 350 NOK
Free admission to: School groups - for visits, contact , assistants to people with reduced mobility, tour guide / driver, press, member of NMF / ICOM and visitors to the museum's exhibition openings.

In the museum café, Vindreken, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding mountain and fjord landscape, sip tasty tea or coffee and at the same time we offer daily home-baked cakes and biscuits, as well as simple lunch dishes. The café is open during the museum's opening hours, and can be visited by anyone, even without a ticket.

In the museum shop you will find a good selection of books about travel and culture, as well as other gifts.

Access for people with reduced mobility

Elevator and stepless access on both floors of the main building. Toilet is on the ground floor, both for people with reduced mobility and others.
