The Norwegian Museum of Travel and Tourism in Balestrand gives you the opportunity to learn about the development of tourism and the history of travel in our mountain and fjord country. Welcome!

Location

The museum is located on the north side of the Sognefjord — centrally located by the pier in the beautiful village of Balestrand.

Opening hours

14. October — 15. December
Thursday - Saturday: 11.00 am to 3.00 pm
Closed on the 28th and 29th of November.
16. December 2024 — 2. February 2025
The museum will be closed for the winter, and will open again in February.

Ticket prices

  • Adults (18+): 120 NOK
  • Children aged 0-17: Free
  • Seniors/students: 90 NOK
  • Season Pass (free entrance for 1 year): 390 NOK
  • Museum Pass *: 200 NOK
* Museum pass: one visit to each of the 12 museums in Musea i Sogn og Fjordane

Free admission to: School groups - for visits, contact marman@misf.no , assistants to people with reduced mobility, tour guide / driver, press, member of NMF / ICOM and visitors to the museum's exhibition openings.

Parking

Free parking on the street outside the museum or on the parking spaces on the pier in front of the grocery stores Joker and Coop-prix

Café

To kafegjester ved eit rundt bord smiler og nyt si gulrotkake, kaffi og te.

In the museum café, Vindreken, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding mountain and fjord landscape, sip tasty tea or coffee and at the same time we offer daily home-baked cakes and biscuits, as well as simple lunch dishes. The café is open during the museum's opening hours, and can be visited by anyone, even without a ticket.

Museum store

In the museum shop you will find a good selection of books about travel and culture, as well as other gifts.

Access for people with reduced mobility

Elevator and stepless access on both floors of the main building. Toilet is on the ground floor, both for people with reduced mobility and others.
