Sogn og Fjordane Art Museum addresses questions of Western Norwegian identity. General director Mayra Henriquez and her staff allow both old masters and lesser-known names to showcase a diverse Western Norway in the exhibition «West. Works from the Birger Mowinckel Collection».

Sogn og Fjordane Coastal Heritage Museum offers a rare glimpse into a newly restored boat workshop. Together with colleagues and volunteers, museum craftsman Øyvind Atle Skarstein has recreated the entire range of machinery Bertel and later Herman Nilsen used to repair boats in Florø from 1933 to 1987. At Sogn Fjord Museum we share the history of the fjord as the lifeblood, thoroughfare, and food source for Sogn villages. General director Trude Knutzen Knagenhjelm likes to show off the most impressive boat in the collection, Skåsheimbåten. It was built by legendary boatbuilder Ole Andersen Nybø, known as «Gamle-Risen».
A brand-new museum has been built for the boat Holvikejekta in Sandane. This boat is a special type know in Norwegian as a jekt. It is truly unique among our preserved ships, and experts call it the stave church of the sea. General director Anne Kristin Moe has gathered the most important things to know about the jekt trade with Bergen in this new museum.
The Millstone Park has just been included in the UNESCO Fjord Coast Regional- and Geopark. . Museum director Alexander Rauboti gives visitors insight into how a 400-million-year-old mountain range laid the foundation for hundreds of years of millstone exports from Hyllestad to Northern Europe. Behind him in the photo is a shipload of millstones which sank in Alver Sound in Western Norway in the Middle Ages.
