Family day - Hay harvisting

Time of event -
Stad Sunnfjord Museum

We welcome young and old to family days at Sunnfjord Museum throughout the summer. On Family days you can try different activities inside and outside. We also have specialised family tours throughout the day.

Thursday July 6th the fjordhorse Rekne Erla will come visit us and help with the annual hay harvest with a traditional mower. We hope all visitors can help us with the rest.

Inside you can see Saviours of Souls, our summer exhibit focusing on the trinity between the landscape, humans, and the sheep. Through photography, craft products and the installation Ullgloa you will get to know the animal, and the lifesaving textile. As part of the exhibition there are several activities to make you more familiar with the material. You can try carding wool, spinning on a spindle or a spinning wheel, needle felting and different types of bradding ad weaving.

Outside we have toys in the open-air museum. You can build your own playing boat by the lake or try to grind grain on one of our millstones.

A detailed program with more activities will be released closer to the event.

NB! On days we have events, all visitors have to pay to visit the museum and the museum area during opening hours.
