Welcome to Fall Fun Days at Sunnfjord Museum!
In keeping with tradition, Sunnfjord Museum welcomes you to two days of fall activities on Monday, October 6 and Tuesday, October 7, from 10am - 3pm both days. There will be activities throughout the museum, both indoors and outdoors.
At 11am you can join in an old-time school day. Our museum educator Nina will take you on a journey into our schoolhouse from 1891 where you will get to take on the roll of a schoolchild from the 1800s.
Museum host Knut Arild will give a guided tour in Norwegian and English at 1pm on both days.
Other activites you can join in on these days:
Outdoor games like ring toss and stilts
Draw, play boardgames and relax in the Huus Cabin. We also have seating outdoors.
Check out the museum's historic mill and storage house
Carry water with an old-time yoke
Try archery in the Sersjantløa Barn with museum host Knut Arild and director Sallie Anna
Do some woodworking in the workshop with museum carpenter Stig
Monday: bake a traditional cake in the Eldstove Cookhouse

Exhibit
View our current exhibit Fiddlers and Funny Ladies: Entertainment in Norwegian America, on display in the second floor of the visitor center.
This exhibit honors the 200th anniversary of the beginning of Norwegian emigration to North America and presents this topic from the perspective of musicians and comedians who emigrated from the local regions of Sunnfjord, Nordfjord, and Sogn.
The last day to see the exhibit is October 17.

Museum Shop and Cafe
The museum shop is open, selling snacks like ice cream, sode, coffee, and cookies. Some items are gluten and lactose free - ask in the reception. On activity days we also sell waffles.
We have some seating the museum store. On activity days, we also have seating in the Huus Cabin. When the weather is nice, there are also many lovely places to sit in the museum grounds.
