Accessibility

Read about accessibility at The Heiberg Collection

Parking

There is a large, free parking area for visitors, with designated accessible parking spaces closest to the entrance. From the parking lot, a flat gravel path leads directly to the main building.

Main Building with Café, Shop, and Exhibitions

The main building has a ground-level entrance with double doors. The entrance does not have an automatic door opener, but we are happy to assist you if needed. The exhibitions generally have wide walkways for easy access. We accept payment by cash and card.
All assistive devices for persons with disabilities are permitted in the exhibitions.

Toilets

In addition to men's and women's restrooms, we have an accessible toilet with a changing table.

Café

Our museum café offers light refreshments, including coffee, cakes, and other treats. We always have gluten- and lactose-free options available and strive to offer vegan alternatives.

Admission

Visitors with disabilities pay the regular admission fee. Companions (personal assistants) with a valid companion certificate are admitted free of charge.

Assistance Dogs

Dogs are generally not allowed in the main building, but service dogs on duty are welcome in all areas of the museum.

Open-Air Museum

The terrain is somewhat uneven with varying accessibility. Some farmyards and individual buildings are not accessible for visitors with reduced mobility.

Wheelchairs unfortunately cannot access most of the historic buildings.

Languages

Outdoor museum texts: Norwegian, English, and German. Indoor exhibition texts: Norwegian and English. Staff speak Norwegian and English, and guided tours are offered in these languages.

Audio Guide

We currently do not have a functioning audio guide. Our staff will gladly provide an introduction to the exhibitions.
